Angelina Jolie discourages adoptions from Haiti
Hollywood super star Angelina Jolie is discouraging adoption of orphans from the earth quake struck Haiti for fear of rise in child trafficking.
Although the Mighty Heart star sparked speculations that she might adopt a child from the Caribbean island, but Jolie is now urging others not to rush into adoption after seeing news footage from Haiti, reported Contact music.
“An emergency is not the time for new adoptions in any way. Child trafficking has been a huge problem for a very long time. Everybody that means well needs to really take that very seriously,” she said.
“As an adoptive parent, I understand the urge to assist in that way. But people need to not get frustrated but really work with the country,” she added.
The 34-year-old star, who shares three adopted children with partner Brad Pitt, had recently paid a visit to Haiti as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador and spent part of her time visiting injured kids.
